JugendJazzOrchester et Big Band de l'EJMA

Le Big Band de l'EJMA et le JugendJazzOrchester de Bâle se partagent la scène le temps d'une soirée.

Chaque année environ vingt musiciennes et musiciens ambitieux venant de tous les coins du pays forment un groupe de jazz. Les compositions sont exclusivement écrites par la direction artistique pour la formation actuelle. Les membres du groupe sont activement impliqués dans le processus créatif. La tournée en Suisse marque à la fois le couronnement et la clôture du projet.

    Un univers mélancolique, délicat, sombre ou plein d’espoir, comme s’il avait réussi à exprimer en chanson les sentiments qu’on n’explique pas. Sa musique, ce sont les bois, les cordes, les pianos, découpés, ciselés, repensés à travers l’électronique et les machines, mais des machines terriblement humaines.

    Quatuor basé à Londres dont l'origine remonte à 2009, lorsque son leader autrichienne Anna Friedberg est repérée par un certain Lenny Kravitz. Après des débuts en solo, Anna décide de recruter trois musiciennes et monte le groupe que l’on connait aujourd’hui. Elles diffusent une indie pop rock irrésistible : riffs de guitares entêtants, voix caressante et synthés parfaitement calés, la formule est simple, mais très efficace.

On le dit parfois «néo-Chet Baker», avec un petit quelque chose de Thelonious Monk dans l’attitude… Eric Chenaux est sans conteste l’un des musiciens les plus intéressants de sa génération. Figure de proue de la scène musicale expérimentale «DIY» de Toronto, il vient présenter son ciné-concert en solo. Le Petit fugitif de Ray Ashley et Morris Engel (États-Unis, 1953, 1h17, 8/10) suit l’errance en solitaire durant une journée et une nuit d’un garçonnet des rues de Brooklyn au milieu de la foule et des attractions de Coney Island… Eric Chenaux a décidé de réenregistrer intégralement la bande-son du film, délaissant absolument la partition initiale (une longue et omniprésente pièce pour harmonica) au profit de longs silences spectraux et remplaçant tous les sons d’extérieur d’époque (la mer, la plage, le parc d’attraction, les badauds américains) par ses propres field-recordings incongrus (piscine évidemment réverbérée, puces de St-Ouen, badaud français).
